Stock - Maintaining Businesses

TODO

Updated this week

The Stock module maintains separate records for the businesses your organisation trades with — customers who purchase stock, and suppliers who provide it. Navigate to Stock → Customers or Stock → Suppliers to manage these records.

Stock Customers

Stock customers are the businesses that place sales orders for goods held in your warehouses. Navigate to Stock → Customers to view all customer records. Each row shows: Customer (name), Code, Suburb, State, Sales Area.

To create a new stock customer, click New Customer and enter the business name, code, and contact details. A Sales Area can be assigned to segment customers by territory for reporting or agent assignment.

Stock Suppliers

Stock suppliers are the businesses that fulfill purchase orders for goods received into your warehouses. Navigate to Stock → Suppliers to view all supplier records. Each row shows: Supplier (name), Code, Suburb, Email Address, Phone Number.

To create a new supplier, click New Supplier and enter the business name, code, and contact details.

Customers vs CRM Accounts

Stock customers and CRM accounts are distinct records in BMS. A CRM account represents a prospect or client managed in the sales pipeline. A stock customer is specifically linked to sales orders and dispatch workflows in the Stock module.

In practice, these often refer to the same organisation — but they are managed separately and do not automatically sync. When raising stock sales orders, always select from the stock customer list, not from CRM.

Customers vs Suppliers in Other Modules

Customers and suppliers also exist in other BMS modules (Billing, Service) as separate record types. Stock customers and stock suppliers are scoped to the Stock module only. Changes made here do not affect records in Billing or Service, and vice versa.TODO
